lean in, now

I started wearing your heart when you leaned into me back then for the very first time on that long, long bus journey. I am just so terribly sorry that I broke it in the end.

The mental image of those tears flooding your face is something that continues to haunt me even now, and in the end what I thought was a decision that would be good for both of us, has turned out to benefit only you, because you are better off without me now.

It only seems like yesterday when Raj picked me up at Bishan the night after he got back here for his summer break, and we went down to Eusoff to meet some of the soccer guys there and had poker night. Three months have just flown by, and slightly over a year has passed since I wrote this,  as my dear friend is en-route to Melbourne once again right now as I type this.

I always tell him to stay there and never come back to this sucky place, but the truth is, he will always be missed here. Looking forward to meeting up during the next holidays!

Took the train back with one of the guys, and his girl just now. A little awkward, considering my social ineptness, but I am really glad for him. If anyone deserves it, it’s him. Such a nice guy, who didn’t deserve to get his heart broken the last time out.

Maybe next time I could bring someone along too… yeah like fuck that will gonna happen. Hahh.

Dinner at Curry Wok on Thursday night was good. Probably hadn’t been there for what, four years? Place still looked the same. Heck, the surroundings still looked more or less the same, with the exception of the Starbucks at Coro.

The company too, more or less hadn’t changed as well. I think the soccer guys just revert back to type whenever we get together. Shu Ming and Jason were utter jokers as usual, making the rest of us double over in laughter most of the time, as memories were recollected over a hearty meal, with everyone chiming in with bits and pieces to form the complete picture.

The impromptu bout of street soccer back at Eusoff later was pretty mad too. The hall guys dished out extra attire and suddenly, all of us were knocking the ball around, barefooted. Everyone ended up with blistered soles, but it was worth it; I don’t know when we will all play together again. Wished EP, Khoo and PS were there too.

As Jason said at one point during the course of the night, we really should do this more often.

This song started playing on my Blackberry as I was on the way to school this morning, and it has ended up being replayed about forty times by the time I got home, just over half an hour ago.

It just struck me how apt it was for today, and it encapsulates almost perfectly all the feelings I had the first time I saw you.

I guess everyone has, at one point or other in their lives, encountered someone who swept them off their feet at first sight. Someone who kept you up at night, who made your heart skip a beat or two every single time you saw him/her.

There are those who were brave enough to try and find out the ending,  and then there are others who are content to stay on the first page.

But however things end, I think that instant in time when you first laid eyes on this person will be indelibly imprinted on your memory.

All I know is, I was enchanted to meet you.
